The Clinical Decision Making in Emergency Medicine conference includes access to over 20 hours of engaging lectures from experts around the country. It provides participants with the most recent, evidence-based information on leading topics in emergency medicine. Presented by the nation’s experts, the format for the sessions is case-based, with questions that highlight the main teaching points of the session, followed by a discussion of the main diagnostic and management issues related to the case, and ending with a focused discussion of the case’s outcome.

Clinical Decision Making in Emergency Medicine is designed to update emergency clinicians on the most high-yield topics, guidelines and core competencies that are needed to ensure quality care. The conference will close gaps that affect practitioners’ ability to provide efficient, cutting-edge care to a diverse range of patients who present to the Emergency Department.
As a result of attending this online program attendees will be able to:
-Utilize best practices in the ED with regard to neuropsychological emergencies, including depression/suicide, head trauma, stroke, and headache
-Utilize best practices in the ED with regard to cardiopulmonary emergencies, including wide-complex tachycardia, NSTEMI, and myocarditis/pericarditis, and
the basics of LVADs
-Utilize best practices in the ED with regard to critical care, including intubating obese patients, managing airway, sepsis, and aortic dissections
-Review the elements affecting risk management and ethics
-Review concerns and updates in trending conditions/practices in the ED and apply them to practice, including skin infections, trauma, back pain, and
orthopedics, and the use of ECMO
-Manage OB/gyn conditions, including pre-eclampsia, abnormal uterine bleeding, and ectopic pregnancies.
WORKSHOPS:
Critical Care Ultrasound Workshop- Wednesday, June 28th @ 2:00 – 6:00 pm – Join nationally-recognized faculty in an intensive, hands-on workshop covering ultrasound assessment of acutely ill patients. All levels of ultrasound experience are welcome! We will cover heart, lung, abdominal and trauma ultrasound as well as ultrasound to guide procedures. Small groups led by experienced faculty, the latest ultrasound systems and high-fidelity task simulators will be employed.
Airway Emergencies Workshop- Friday, June 30th @ 2:30 pm – A case-based workshop for difficult airway management in the emergency department augmented by hands-on skills stations with video laryngoscopy, rescue techniques using extraglottic devices, and flexible video endoscopic intubation.
Pediatric Emergencies Workshop- Saturday, July 1st @ 2:30 pm – Are you prepared for a difficult newborn delivery in your resus bay? Spend an afternoon practicing your OB skills and neonatal resuscitation. Practice maneuvers for breech and shoulder deliveries, manage post-partum hemorrhage and a sick newborn. All in the safety of a simulated scenario on the beach! Experts in simulation, EM and pediatrics, join you for an exciting afternoon of learning and hands on practice.
